Helping The World’s Largest Lesson promote healthy eating and reduce obesity
Project completed: January 2019
Who they are
In partnership with UNICEF, Project Everyone (a campaign to raise awareness of the 18 UN Sustainable Development Goals) produces the World’s Largest Lesson, a programme of educational resources including films, comics and lesson activities for schools, community groups, and anyone who wants to educate children about important issues that affect the world.
What they do
From all the great work they do, our focus will be on the childhood obesity issue. Today nearly a third of children aged 2-15 in the developed world are overweight or obese. The importance of food education, knowledge of healthy eating and learning to make better dietary choices are critical to addressing this issue.
How we helped
Focussing on children aged 8 to 14, our project created innovative and fun materials to help them make healthy eating choices.
Our donation funded the creation of lesson materials including an educational comic ‘Rise of the Plate PioneerZ’, in four languages, reaching over 600,000 children with this important message. Schools were also given the opportunity to enter projects that support healthy eating into a competition with representatives from the winning entries attending the ‘Design for Change’ celebration inTaiwan and Rome to showcase their projects.
